James Wrayge, a Twin Cities based artist who, in an architectonic style, builds subtle layers of oil paint away from the flat canvas surface and places tracery marks to push spatial depth. Wrayge, has work in collections locally, nationally and internationally.

“My work is primarily abstract, but has been shifting toward figurative since pandemic and domestic unrest although not narrative in nature, rather still dependent on composition of the visual elements.i do my painting in my studio and the drawing at home.They both tend to be intuitive rather than preconceived allowing the picture to lead the dance.

I have been been in Northrup King Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since 2003. I received a MFA from University of Minnesota in 1975 and have shown in several galleries. My work is in collections both private and corporate across the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.”
